Context window

What is a context window?

The amount of text an AI model can take into account at one time, including the conversation, attached files and its own replies.

How it works

It is measured in tokens. When a conversation passes the limit, the oldest material is dropped or summarized, which is why very long chats can lose track of early details.

Example

An analyst uploads a 300-page annual report. If the report exceeds the context window, the model can only work with part of it.
